Old Friend?

Old Friends are a rare reality these days. I just got in the mail my invitation to my 25th high school reunion and at first i thought that it could be cool to see everyone again, then the more I thought about it the question that nagged me was: "who is everyone?" I mean I have seen almost no one from my graduating class in those 25 years. I use excuses like well I was married BEFORE I graduated and had to grow up quick. But the pattern is what haunts me. It's been my mode of operation for way too long, to take old friends for granted and before long you realize you haven't talked in two years. I know that we grow apart from some as our values and seasons of life change, but I could do so much better to cherish old friends. I am traveling to Mexico tomorrow, along the way some old friends will cross paths with me. Pastor Kevin from New Mexico, Ron the clerk at the Econolodge in El Paso ( I found out Mary Lou from the Econolodge passed away last March), I'll see Patie and her family, some youthworks people, Chila and all those whom we have built homes for. I rejoice in all of those relationships and I miss some old friends too.

Pray for us as we go. We will be gone from 7-13 through 8-1.
thanks.

Gracias!

As it turned out we were not $3,950.00 (as reported in the last post) short of our goal for the two Mexico houses we were actually $4,100.00 short before today’s services at the C-Stone. We asked God for a miracle again, we made the announcement and even had a bake sale going on (it alone made $755.00). and at the end of the day $4,200.00 came in. Another Miracle!

Thanks everyone and Gracias to our gracious Father!

“Please Pass Another Miracle!”

I almost feel somewhat guilty this time of year. For the last several years while preparing for our annual Mexico Mission trip to Anapra, Mexico it almost always seems like we won’t make the financial target needed to build two homes and whatever else we are doing. So this year is no different, we were $4,000.00 short with three weeks to go and now we are only $3950.00 short and we leave next Thursday!

So God, it’s me again, asking for another miracle. Another chance to change the lives of some poor people in Mexico, for the Kingdom of God.

Please, can we have another miracle God? We come like the lady who just knew that if she touched your clothes she would be healed from her many years of suffering, knowing that this is nothing for you to do Lord. Please, can we have another miracle God?

Maybe you can be part of the miracle to help two poor Mexican families?

Lord, please, can we have another miracle?

Out of LEFT Field!

Well I'm back from a "vaca" up to mom's near Harrisville. While there I was blindsided by news from our daughter Jennifer and her husband Greg.
Before the news, you should know that Jennifer is one of the very worst at keeping secrets, (taking after her mom on this one) We rode up north with each other and not even a hint. we spent almost five days together, not many signs given. Then on Thursday Greg comes up and Jennifer gives us a gift wrapped in a little box. The gift is a book, on how to be GRANDPARENTS! I thought she had given us the wrong box or something. Me a grandpa? It still isn't real to me at all. Maybe it will sink in sometime toward the end of February, when the real present is due to make it's arrival.

For the DL on the vaca: I worked around the house for mom, I read three books (90 minutes in Heaven by Don Piper, Donald Millers new book To Own A Dragon, Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas (not yet done with it) and also a great book that I'm savoring called The Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard) sat on the porch and talked with many folks, took some much needed day hikes to break in new hiking boots, played lots of volleyball, went Kayaking for a day that ended in a thunderstorm. Anyway, thanks for caring...
